under these circumstances is there a possibility of getting these subs fixed with some sort of foam kit or are they just done for?

I see water spots I'm still going on water damage/dry rot and you pushed them harder then he did, I have seen subs free aired until they roll smoke and the surrounds don't fail.

bought them from best friend. they were in his car and took them straight out and put in mine. that is why i am wondering if i did something wrong or if it was just bad luck. he sold them to me for $200 with box and amp. so got good deal i guess but not really gonna try to not pay him something since it is my best friend instead of joe blow.

seems like a good friend would take them back from you and give you your money back with apologies if the deal is only 48 hrs old.

for real he should give you the option to back out seeing as you could not have caused the damage hence he sold goods that where on the verge of failing and you took his word on the quality being your friend he should now take back his equipment and refund you your cash in full, at least that what I and I'm sure most others here would do!

I understand your point of view, but those subs and that amp for $200...you know, I ain't even going there..you seem like a good hearted person that got a bad deal. If you could find soft parts for those JL's you might be just as well off to buy new subs.

i know we will work something out and that is why i started this to try and find out i i did anything wrong or just bad timing and luck. i really appreciate all the help from everyone. was really suprised at how fast people responed and helped me with the situation.
