dang and the hit glue worked so well to hold everything In place. And ya as I was just sanding I noticed the filler wasn't sticking as good as it should and it's been on there for about 6 hours now. So looks like I gotta take all the filler off and try again if I'm going to spend the money making it look nice might as well do it right. My true d who is a pro painter and does body work is gunna stop by tomorrow to give me a hand. Oh well lesson learned here I guess. So does the hot glue cause it to crack as well?just a FYI - hot glue + fiberglass is the worst combination ever possible. i learned this the hard way. NEVER EVER do that.
go get some super glue or some CA glue from the local hobby shop. and another thing, you didnt sand\scuff any surfaces before you put down glass\resin\filler. that is a bad bad thing. you NEED to scuff the surface area before you apply any sort of adhesive.
in the future, over time, your dash will crack\break\chip and the paint will not stick and it will look like crap - epically if there is bass flexing everything.

thanks for that i just assumed it was ok since you see a lot of people use it to hold wooden dowels for speaker rings but then again the fiberglass they are gluing to is already cured.^^ Fiberglass gets hot as it cures and it will loosen up the hot glue, allowing things to move around.
thanks for that! oh i did use fiberglass basically i made my own resin and chopped glass mixture. they sell chopped fiberglass in a jar at tap plastics so i mixed that in with resin and hardener. but ill tear it all down and give it another shot now that im more informed of how to do things. stuff like this is verydifferent than just doing a fiberglass and mdf box.fiberglass just will not stick to hot glue. hot glue sticks to tons of crap, but after its cured any epoxy based adhesive will not adhere to it in the least. and to top that off, unless there is mucho surface area (scratched up with 100 grit helps) - any epoxy based adhesive hates sticking to plastic. using something like duramix 40\40 will get the job done with less effort. and do not use just straight epoxy fiberglass resin to plastic. if you are gonna use something like this - get some kitty hair. its epoxy based body filler with chopped strands of glass in the mix. way way stronger - because straight resin is extremely brittle. the strands in fiberglass are what make it strong.
so to recap. if you are going to start over...
1. use CA glue. IC2000 works wonders.
2. sand plastic with 100 grit at least, before trying to adhere anything to it.
3. use kitty hair - or body filler with chopped fiberglass in it
i think those are all the points i need to give you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
