My Crescendo Pro Audio Mid Review w/PIX

Ok so I ordered some pro audio mids from the new Crescendo line. First thing I noticed and liked was the carbon fiber cone. Super clean look. Also, how stiff the actual midbass was. Jon said I actually needed to break them in. Just awesome. It has push terminals which I thought was really cool. The magnet is enormous. Now to the sound. I quickly just connected a 1000 watt 4 channel to hear one of these bad boys. I didn't really take time to adjust anything just the gain. EARGASM! I was a HUGE almost compulsive Selenium fan. Literally. BUT, there is a really noticeable difference in the Selenium and Crescendo comparison.

The Selenium mids are a more "Screaming at you" type mid. They really do get loud. The Crescendo mids have a WAY better Clarity factor to them. They just sound so much cleaner and clearer. The midbass, for one, is WAY WAY WAY better than the Selenium midbass. The midbass on the Crescendos is ridiculous good. My cousin in law is an SQ FREAK and he says they passed his test and he's considering getting some. And they DO get VERY loud. I'd say just as loud as the Seleniums and maybe louder. So, I hope this Review helps those who were wondering about the mids. And remember every review is different. And not only are these mids AMAZING quality, they're $25. So, it's a win-win situation.

Those are 2-ways components aren't they?

Is that silver pointed thingie sticking out from the cone a bullet tweeter?

Heck,I wonder if these babies would sound better and louder than the Lanzar opti6c's?

The Lanzars are 2-ways,have 3" coils, and are 250w rms per speaker.

I also read nothing but good reviews on them as well.

Trying to decide if I want these or the Lanzars.

These are way cheaper than the Lanzars too.

I'd probably get 8 of these total and have them custom fitted to my car.

Let's see....

8 Lanzar opti6c speakers....$540

8 Crescendo pro audio speakers....$200

Hmmmmmmm, the decision should be easy but i'm thinking about 6.5 comps with 3 inch coils in the opti's.

Wait a minute, what size coils are in the Crescendos?

They are just mids, not components... And no there is no tweeter on it. Its strictly a midbass driver...

You are going to have to to purchase tweeters with these, and Xovers, unless you have the ability to go active... So it may not be as cost effective.

I see.

Well I ordered some for my sister's vehicle.

I will see how her's would sound first before I decide.

Her vehicle will be my guinea pig I guess. Lol

Btw, what do you mean by "going active"?

Does that mean making them into full range by adding crossovers and tweeters or something?

Thanks

Thanks for the review, I'm also going from Selenium to these.
Save your $$$$, unless more midbass is what you're looking for. CA's win there, but midrange/volume the Seleniums are better. I did a drop in test with the 8's last week and had 3 people listen and then we compared notes when done. All came to the same conclusion....
