My bank is screwing me over!

I went over drawn in my account. Had $114, took out $400. Should have left my account at $286 overdrawn plus a $29 over draft fee. I'm now over drawn by $460. This is the second time it happened to me, and my bank is doing nothing about it, because the proof I have to show my account shouldn't be overdrawn by that much, could have been manipulated. I'm going to pay the $460, and close the account. I'm now looking for a new bank, that hopefully won't screw me like that. I am thinking about using Bank of America, only because they have the 'Keep The Change' program, and I plan on starting a new savings account for my daughter too, which that would give her even more money than my normal deposits to her Savings account. Any banks that you would suggest? A bank that I could lock the savings account to where no withdraws can be performed, until my daughter is at least 13 (12 years), would be nice, but I don't know if that is possible?

I suggest a local bank. I went through Regions, a corporate bank, and they screwed me over just like you many times. So i went to "The Murray Bank" and they've treated me very well. Also, you can set up time limits on savings accounts, but...i would suggest an 18 limit, not 13. If you give it to her when she's 13, she will have it all gone with she's 13 and one month, lol. Thats a bit of a rash generalization, but you understand my point nonetheless.

Don't be an irresponsible idiot and over draft your account... /thread

Now if they didn't deposit your transaction because it got lost in the counter checks for the day, as 5/3 did to me then you have a reason to complain.

I am currently using a local bank. My girlfriend had an account with Regions, and closed it once we got an account together. They were a good bank, and she went overdrawn once, and the bank knowingly paid for it. I may try that bank. I'm wanting to set the 13 year limit, so she can just withdraw from the account for her allowance, so she doesn't have cash on her all the time, and the threat of her losing it all, or getting robbed? It's going to have a set withdraw limit every week, if the bank I choose will offer that.

You're a dumb ***. I wouldn't have went overdrawn, but I had an unexpected bill. I don't use credit cards, and I wouldn't have minded the extra $30 it would have cost, had they not screwed me over. I have the money to pay off the overdraft, and intend to, even though I don't think I should. How does that make me an irresponsible idiot?

almost what happened to me.. but i got very lucky. my had my card on file for an alltel bill online.. me and my dad share a account with alltel, stead of taking my card off and him using his... he hits pay and it charges my Bank account. which i only had like 40 bucks in because i took all my money out a week ago... well i would of been -200 bucks overdrafted.. i called Regions and told her to cancel the payment. she did. but said if alltel goes thru with the payment it will still go thru, she can't stop that.. so i had friends put money in my account, and the money went stright thru... and sense i cancel the payment.. alltel didnt go thru with it.. until about 10 hours later. so i was in luck... But if you balance your shit right... and don't run into overdrafts so often you won't have a problem, when they charge me more then i know im suppose to be charged i take it up with their manager.. ive had waived Overdraft fees alot.

I believe being an adult (18) and not being able to pay your bills so you need to overdraft puts you in the 'irresponsible' category.
I am able to pay my bills? I have the money to pay off all my bills, plus put money into a savings account, and still have money for just 'spending'. Just because I have an unexpected bill, that I had no way of knowing I was going to have, makes me irresponsible, because I paid all my monthly bills when they were due?

Do I dare ask what this 'unexpected' bill was.. I know every single bill I have due of every month down to the date. I would imagine at 18 your life is still simplified where you can't have more than a couple bills coming in a month.
My transmission lost 2nd and 3rd gear. I don't have many bills, that is true. I have house payment, car payment, utilities, cable/phones/internet, and food. What more could I possibly need to have?
