Well... this makes it four times within the past five years. I'm not sure I should be proud of that though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

But in my defense, I do sell the previous ones and just pay whatever difference there might be to upgrade to the next so it's not as bad as it sounds. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

wow I feel like a retard now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I guess I am still a "novice" in this stuff compared to you guys. I always thought CAP's stored extra energy for release so your battery doesnt really have to do that much work when the system needs it. Guess I am confused //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Thanks for clearing it up without tearing my head apart //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Nah... it only hurt the worst the first time I blew that much change on a HU. After that, it's just been $50 here or $100 there to upgrade to the next biggest thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

That is the way to go...really. It ends up saving you a lot of money.

Ike-sound(1 year warranty from them) has it for $395. Torn between saving 100 bucks getting it from unauthorized dealer or $499 and having the Alpine warranty.

Thoughts?

That is a tough position to be in...

I would *probably* spend the extra money to get the warranty...but, knowing Alpine and having delt with their products for years...saving $100 would be worth it because I doubt you would need that warranty.

I played with my 9815 a lot this weekend and I only found one tiny snafu that seems to plague a lot of mp3 players. It doesn't play all my mp3s in the proper order. I label my songs like this:

Artist Name - 01 - Song Title.mp3

Artist Name - 02 - Song Title.mp3

Artist Name - 03 - Song Title.mp3

I have to put the track number first for it to play in order. Other then that I really like this unit and it handles lower bit rate mp3's quite well. I played "Punk" by the "Gorillaz" at 128kbps and it still made the car tremble without distortion.

Now I found that to be exactly opposite from my experience.

It plays my MP3 files in alphabetical order, as it seems to recognize long file names whereas my old Alpine 7894 did not.

I name all my files like this:

[Dana Glover] - Thinking Over.mp3

The 7894 used to play them in the order of:

[DanaG~1.mp3

[DanaG~2.mp3

etc..

The 9815 plays them like:

[Dana Glover] - Testimony.mp3

[Dana Glover] - Thinking Over.mp3

It really threw me for a loop when I first got it. I only store full albums on CD, and I was used to dialing up my favorite tracks, but their tracknumber had changed.

So by your file naming convention, it should play them in order. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I got my CDA 9815 of Ebay for $377 from a power seller. I should be getting it in my hands on Thurs and installed on Fri along with an Alpine MRV-F450 amp. Can't wait been a Sony man since I got my first car so I am converting over. Looks promising.
