Finished these Madmax's for a local last weekend. They will be powered by a couple SD 12kds. Should be pretty loud once he is all finished.

Nice leads, Xerox. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:p:

They look nice man. What type of bolts do you use in those motors? What coils are in them?

he doesn't compete... and apparently doesn't care about he's ears and/or ability to breath while driving! My kinda man! Kudos on the nice build

HAHAHAHA!! Thanks Dave!

I used 5/16 machine bolts. Memphis love's their changable top assemblies lol. It would have been cool to mod the baskets to allow for that on these.. Maybe next time. I used 4 layer 4" coil with a 2.25" WW and vented former.

Where do you guys get all these coils and re-cone supplies from?

And are you building your own re-cones from the ground up, or are you sending your specs in for the re-cone to some company and then just gluing the recone on?

I stock all my own parts that I purchase from my suplliers and build subs and recones from the ground up. If a drop in recone is desired for a particualr rebuild I will purchase one thru that vendor. If you ever need anything for a recone or rebuild check out fixmyspeaker.com. He is a good source for guys that dont do this stuff on a regular basis but want to try their hand at a recone and what not.

Thanks for the info man.

I'm also just wondering how you get the cone and spiders square with the former and all of that. Do you have a jig set up or something like that? If they ended up being just a little out of square, you would end up with the coil scraping in the gap.....Seems like a pretty precise process to get it all plumb.

If you ever get bored, I'd like to see some pics of the building of a recone. There's a re-cone tutorial, but no building a re-cone sticky. I'm sure there are others out there that would be interested as well.
