Item(s) for Sale:

MTX Thunder 81000D

Item(s) Description/Condition:

As you can see in the pics the amp is missing the original logo on top which has been replaced with a sticker. Power light has also been relocated to the rca input end of the amp(originally it would shine through the logo that is missing). The amp is not in the greatest physical shape. I'd say 6-7 out of 10. All the screws are there although the power wire input screws have been replaced with something larger but they still function as intended. Maybe even better than original. The amp functions flawlessly. Underrated at 500 watts rms into 4 ohms and 1000 watts rms into 2 ohm. Realistically you are looking at closer to 1400-1500 at 2 ohms. This amp can also be modded for one ohm use which I can do for a small additional cost if the buyer would like ( I don't really recommend this but many people have done it with great success). One of the better sounding class d amps I have heard. It has a built in defeatable compression circuit that just about completely eliminates clipping(if modded for one ohm use the compression circuit is disabled as well). Same amp internally as the legendary MTX Thunder 1501D minus the phase switch

Let me first say that I'm strongly against this mod. It totally removes the short circuit protection circuit and the compression circuit. That being said I will do it for an extra ten bucks . Keep in mind also that if it does fail that these amps can be a pain if not impossible to repair. Very touchy as far as what output fets will work in these amps. Me personally I would not do this mod . If you need a 1 ohm amp I would suggest one designed for that load and not modded to accept it.

I got a question Spooney. I drive a '99 Monte Carlo. I've done the Big 3 and I've got 4 gauge ran. I've got 2 Focal Polyglass 13's. They're rated for 400 rms a pc. I've got a Pioneer that only puts out 600 rms @ 2 ohm. What would I need to do electrically to run this and would I be safe with the Focals turning the gain way down? I know it's 2 big of an amp but eventually I'd like to do a louder SPL setup or at least leave room for the option. Thanks!

i had a pair of 1501d amps 0 gauge to the back and 2 yellow top's small ones and a 165 or so alt on my bravada and still had a tough time powering them, but they were great amps, if I had a use for this amp i would be getting it for sure

In my car I have the big 3 in 2 gauge,140 amp stock alt, stock battery, and 2/0 power and ground. Running 2 ohm nominal I didn't have any major voltage issues. Yes there was some dimming but I've had amps that did way worse that did similar power. If you upgrade your power wire and have the gain set appropriately I don't imagine you would have any issues . This is just my opinion though. I'm sure there are others that are more well versed in electrical systems that could give you a more definite answer.

You can wire those subs up @8 ohms if they are both SVC4 ohm subs, and that amp will run fine after being tuned properly...
