Is this a solid sub to run an Fi Q 12"?

It's 1K @ 2-ohm [so I'd get the 1-ohmx2 Fi Q]

My question is... how's the quality on these MTX amps?

I think that's pretty good for a 1K Watt monoblock from a decently reputable company. But... I can be wrong.

For that price, you might be able to get yourself a SAZ-1000. Don't get me wrong, the MTX is what i had before my sundown and its a good amp for the money, i ran it on a single mojo for a long time, then strapped 2 of them on a pair of mojos for about 8 months.

ive herd good and bad things about the newer mtx amps. if you could find an older one that would be a better choice, imo, than the newer ones.

I just picked up a MTX TA7801 and it is great.. I am running my 18" Fi Q off of it.. you can get the amp for around $235 shipped all over the net.

The TA 81001 is an excellent amp, I used to have a TA 7801. I got rid of it only beause it was too long and too big for my setup.

Where can you get this amp for that price? I have one but I need another one...Everywhere I look it says they are discontinued. The only places i've found it is for 400 now.

Get the MTX. I have 2 TA81001's and it the best amp I've ever had so far. The Sundown is a good amp but is butt ugly compared to the MTX. I've seen some Sundown 1500 in action, but it doesn't make me want to give up my MTX. My DYNO sheet says 1819 watts @ 1ohm and it is only rated at 1500 watts. It's rated 1000 @ 2ohm and tested at 1481. That Sundown might be better, but I'd still get the MTX. I've seen a 600 watt MTX amp hooked up to only 1 coil on a SoloX 18 and it was plenty of pressure in that car. It was loud on the outside and turning heads at a local Spl comp. I push my amp pretty hard for long periods and it never runs hot and I rarely hear the fan come on because it runs so cool.

I think woofersetc and ebay are the ones that still have them. They use to sell them real cheap but they sold fast, even the refurbs. I paid 369.00 shipped for my second TA81001 from woofersetc but the price went up since then. I paid 289 + 30 ship for the first one, but I'm one of those guys that has to have matching amps for low and highs.
