MTX Magnum Dual 10'' vs Kicker C12 12''

This is my first time getting subs so I don't know much about them, also I can't spend much more than $180 for the whole thing so I don't expect amazing quality or anything. I don't want ridiculously booming bass, I'm looking for clear quality with substantial bass. I saw a kit from MTX that looks decent but I also want to try a single 12'' sub because I feel it will be less booming, so I need help picking an amp for a 12'' Kicker C12 sub. Also, if I should go with the Kicker, should I get a sealed or ported box, keeping in mind I'm trying to keep clarity over how hard it hits. I'm deciding between these two:

($160) MTX Magnum MB210SP Dual 10" Enclosure/Amp Combo

or

($60) Kicker 10C124 12'' + ($?) Sealed/Ported Box + ($?) Amp

what vechile you got? are you a decent woodworker with a circular saw?

This might sound dumb but my last car just broke on me so I'm still looking to get another. I know trunk size matters for the box but all I can tell right now is that I'm going to get a sedan of some sort. Do you only need to know what car for the size of the box? And yes I'm a decent woodworker with a circular saw

well if i were you i would get a decent 12 and make a ported box. do some research on ported boxes or have someone on here design a box for your sub and car. personally i think sealed boxes suk- even worse in a trunk.

Can you recommend a brand for the sub? Maybe include what RMS I should look for. For an amp, will it matter if I get a mono channel amp or bridge a 2 channel?

i would think your budget would need to be around $350, maybe 400.

you seem to wanna spend as least as possible- you can find a 12" alpine typeR- 2011 model i believe- for just over $100. there rated at 600w rms, and you would want to get a D2 ohm. you could run it on a small 1 ohm stable monoblock or a older 2-channel bridged 4ohms
