MTX 1501D vs MTX 81000D ? Memphis 16-MC1500D vs Memphis 16-ST1500D ?

Whats the difference between two MTX amps and two Memphis amps.

1501d and 81000D have the same specs so does the ST1500d and 16-mc1500d.

They are alson in the same price range

I heard a lot of ppl saying they are pretty much the same amps.

But if they're the same, then why produce two different amps instead of one?

different year models. don`t want to look like they never have anything new come out so they rename it and change the case a lil bit.

i'm 99% sure the 1501 and the 81000 are the same board. why produce 2 amps?? idk

true. Memphis 16-MC1500D and 16-ST1500D have the same board as well.

The only technical difference in the MTX amps is the compression circuit. It didnt work too well on the 81000D so they improved it on the 1501D.

im pretty sure the 81000 is linkable also, whereas the 1500 is not.

Both are linkable.

I used run 8 1501Ds in SS 1-2 to 2) 15" subs.

With 2 1501Ds linked. I was getting about 4500w per voice coil on a 2 ohm coil

Well im looking at my 1501D right now and i dont see any way to link it? What am i missing here...

With 2 1501Ds you would simply connect the positive speaker lead of 1 amp to the positive terminal of your voice coil. Then with the second amp have your phase switched 180 deg. and then connect the positive lead of the speaker output to the negative terminal of your voice coil. And whammo! you,ve got over 4K.

Thats reminds me. The other difference is that the 1501Ds have a phase switch where as the 81000Ds do not.

So to switch the 81000Ds you need an external X-over with a phase switch.

do you mean slave/master for gain settings?. MTX did not do this back then so neither the 81000D or the 1501D have this.
