MTX 1501 vs. Viper D2500.1

I have been searching for weeks for the perfect amp and have finally decided between these 2. The amp will be powering 2 - 15" Soundsplinter RL-p's vented around 2.5 to 3.0 cu ft. each @ 28hz. Subs are 2ohm DVC so I need power at 2 ohms. The subs are "conservatively" rated at 500 watts rms a piece however, the drivers use the exact same motor as the eD A's and the SI D2's I'm told so I'm not worried about putting serious power on them. I am trying to decide on whether to go with a new 1501 or a refurbed 2500.1. The price is the exact same. I have heard good things about both amps and I'm guessing i would be putting almost the same amount of strain on my electrical system since I would be pushing the 1501 pretty hard or the 2500.1 with the gains nearly all the way down. So to get to the point, what should I go with. Research and opinions on either amp makes it hard to decide for me. And my EQX has a SS filter so that's not an issue either. Thanks for any opinions.

At 2 ohms the Viper will be louder, that's as low as you can run a viper for daily anyway. If you could get the MTX down to 1 ohm or lower it would beat the viper. Seems hard to beleive, but I've seen it personally on several occasions. 1501's @ 1 ohm or below do some major power on a limited amount of battery power.

ScottieJ has some of the 1501 (I think) modded to handle low impedances. You could buy one of those and run your setup at 1/2 ohm. That would probably be more power than the Viper at 2 ohms.

Of course, I always consider Viper top of the line. Like, hands down the best amps you can buy, but that's me.

your joking right? tru, zapco, mcintosh come to mind for the best..

I've got no experience with Tru, Zapco, or McIntosh. I have listened to viper, and it is the best I have ever heard, in the time I've had, to listen to setups that have amplifiers.

If you have a nice Zapco, drive over here to Michigan and we can settle this one. Haha.

i have a mtx 1501 and i had it at 1.5 ohms on 2 jl 12w6. can you really run a 1501 at 1 ohms and it live to tell about it on a daily basis? at leat though a full song
