not sure if any of you listen to the steve harvey show, but he made a good point yesterday...he was going on about he wasn't that mad at imus..because there are rapers that call women *****es an hoes all teh time..so when other people hear it, they think it's okay..so he was like his first beef is with the rappers, and how we gotta stop degrading women all the time....

Imus was right, but in a horrible way. He had no reason to call them that, but he is entirely correct that he was "taught" by the black community. If we would stop calling each other deemed racist and derogatory terms, then there would be no reason for others to refer to blacks as such.

what a hyper-sensitive world we live in. it's amazing how people will allow words to dictate how they feel. imus's show had 300,000 listeners on average. fairly small for a nationally syndicated show.

I dont like Imus, but hes no satan. I dont think he was making more of a derogatory remark to the team then any target of any comedian's joke. Comedians observe, then tell jokes about it... just how Imus observed and said that stupid shit.

What i dont get is that why are we really calling this a racial issue? There are almost as many white girls on the team as there are black if im not mistaken? If anything his comments where derogatory against those specific women.

I dont like how Sharpton some how implied that Imus feel guilty for calling all black women that. I also dont like how sharpton had his daughter sit in the audience, while Imus was being interviewed, being really upset. Another dragging through the streets by Sharpton.

Well the air is better with him off perhaps (partially because i could never stand hearing his crap on the air)... so on the the next couple thousand offenders.

I agree with you for the most part dozy, but it was a racial issue. That being said, sharpton would NOT have come out of the woodwork had imus omitted the "nappy headed" part. Sharpton only speaks when he can make himself feel good or has no possibility of looking bad. The black community needs a REAL advocate. Someone who is not tied directly to a church, and someone who looks at the issue from a perspective other than that of a victim. The president of Spelman university was on the Today show this morning, and she was incredibly well spoken and actually made points that sparked discussions instead of arguments on both sides. The media only gets people like sharpton and jesse jackson on TV when they need to add extra drama and effect to their broadcastings.

Well thats good because i agree with you here.

I got to ask... what the hell does nappy mean?

well sharpton don't only come out for racial issue....not sure if ya'll remember but i went to Stratford High School...we was on national news for a drug raid that happened with the local police department, Stratford was and still is a perdomanently white school...but ye Jesse jackson and Sharpton still showed up for our support...the thing about the video is, they only show the black kids in the video, but there were just as many whites though...

that's because it was a political stunt. they turn anything and everything into a ploy to further their political agenda.

The difference between what rappers, of all persuasions, say regarding women is a broad spectrum demeaning insult directed at "women" in general with no specifics whereas Imus specifically singled out the Rutgers womens basketball team calling them "nappy headed ho's" and the racially biggoted insult was targeted at a team of young women that just achieved great success in their sport. There is a big difference.

In my opinion he ought to be fired.

Regarding rappers. If the majority of cd buyers did not like the "songs" and did not buy the rappers wares they would soon be out of a job and gone but there is an appeal though I do not understand it.

Naps are the little balls of hair that form in black folks hair cause it's so curly. ***** to comb out, even worse when all you have is a pick //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
