mp3's

to me there is a difference yes, 128 is bout the lowest tolerable quality IMO, 192 is about the standard for decent quality, but then again I encode at VBR 0 : )

I suggest you download EAC and give different encoding options a try, some people notice a difference between 192 and 128, others dont so its a personal thing, but I think that just for the normal standard you should never go below 160

If you have a decent sound system then yes you will notice a difference, if you still have good hearing left. 192 is usually considered 'Near CD Quality' with 320 being pretty much CD Quality. 128 Is usually too compressed for a good system.

That would be VBR (Variable Bit Rate), which is supposed to be 'the best'. It somewhat annoys me to have the bit rate jumping around but, oh well. It's also what the underground mp3 releasing scene uses now as a standard.

does anyone know of a program that will record mp3's to a standard audio cd? i've got nero now and it puts a 2 sec pause inbetween each song. . . and that gets kinda annoying when the songs are supposed to be run together. ie. fades from one song to the other.

128kbps is awful, 192 is tolerable. CD's by far the best...if you can't tell the difference between 192 and a CD, either you're deaf or your stereo sucks.

You can get rid of that...after you get all the tracks in order, highlight them all, right-click, then click properties. You can remove the pause and you can cross-fade between tracks if you want.

ok i tried that and it says my recorder doesn't support that. but i know i've recorded cd's before with no pause. i just don't remember how i did it. is there a way to put them all together as one track and just record it all at once or something?
