Moving the faceplate?

So I was wondering if it would be possible to mount my faceplate somewhere, and the rest of the head unit in another spot. I would need some type of connector that would connect the faceplate to where it plugs into the headunit. Is there such a thing? If so, where can I get one of these? Has this ever been done before, or am I just living in a dream world? I ask this because I am really tight on space on this project. It would be REALLY helpful if I could somehow get this to work. Is this a good idea or not?

it is possible to relocate the faceplate from the headunit. hu was mounted under the seat and faceplate up in the visor (think it was on mp3car.com). guy said it worked flawlessly. don't remember the link tho

Yeah, it would save me a ton of work. Do they make any kits to do this?

I want to put the faceplate in my dash. But I don't have room for the entire deck up there. So, I want to put the faceplate in the dash, and the rest of the headunit elsewhere, be it the trunk, or under my seat. I just need a connector, to connect the faceplate to the rest of the head unit.

Well, I found this and it looks like it is do-able. However, my soldering skills aren't as good as that guys. Also, somebody mentions something about some motorized faceplates not being able to do this. I have the Pioneer 6800MP, which has a motorized faceplate. Is this still a fesible idea?

just practice soldering thats the only way you can do it. great idea on his behalf just he can take the hu out if he needs. and that is the same hu as mine is. os where in mi are you from?

i use to have a link to an s10 that had the faceplate of a 9835 in the visor and then the unit was int he center console
