Motorbreath

All their old stuff is classic. But they sold out somewhere between And Justice For All and the Black album.
Now, i tend to disagree. I love Metallica. I dont believe they "sold out", yes their style changed, but i dont see how that can be interpreted as selling out. A lot of people say they went to pop type metal for that day and age. I dont see how so, but everyone has their own opinion.

Meh, they definitely changed their style, both physically and musically, in an attempt to stay relevant. It worked.

Load, ReLoad and St. Anger were awful records. There might be enough decent material on all three albums combined to compile a half way decent EP...

EDIT:

Here's the tracklist for that EP;

01 Until It Sleeps

02 King Nothing

03 Fuel

04 The Memory Remains

I couldn't think of a single track from St. Anger that should've been released to the public...

Death Magnetic FTMFW!
All Nightmare Long and My Apocalypse were good.

I used to have a "fan remastered" version of the album that sounded a shit load better than the official release, but I don't know what happened to it.

The video for All Nightmare Long was awesome...

I thought most of the album is good, bc very rarely do i find a full length album where i love/like every song, one band seems to always break that trend tho... Stone Sour. I like every song on every album.. and a few are in my favorite songs list

Do you know when Metallica started out, they were a group of guys living in an abandoned building? By the time Black came out, they were all millionaires, and their sound changed so radically they sounded like a different band (albeit with the same vocals). The rolling guitar riffs of the original albums were gone, the only-used-once-per-song lyrics (because they had a specific message/story to tell) were gone, replaced with repeating chorus lines, and fancy videos. If you dont call that selling out, Id be curious to know what you do call selling out.

I dont mean this as a 'get off my lawn!' comment, but I was listening to tallica before you were born. It was pretty obvious, even as soon as Black came out, that they were trying to appeal to a different audience. Yes, they most definitely sold out, for fame and fortune.

As a matter of fact, even And Justice For All was a transition album between old tallica, and new tallica. But it had enough of the old style that I still consider it as part of their original style. By Black, the old tallica was dead and buried.
