Well i moved into a new place been here about 2 months now. and im noticing some mold spots on the bathroom cealing. the bathroom is kinda like 2 rooms one for the sinks and the other room has the shower and toilet. the mold is only in the part wiht the shower which leads me to beleive that the steam from the shower has something to do with it. however i have never had this problem wiht any other place i have been at. so im not sure what to do about it. I try leaving the window in the bathroom open so it isnt so much of a suana in there but i dont think its helping. so what should i do? and can you get rid of the mold spots? i havnt acatually tried cleaning them or anything.

10% bleach solution should kill the mold (it may discolor paint). Also, make sure you clean all of your vents and craks in the entire room. If one little spore gets left it will grow.

That stuff will grow anywhere and all it takes is a little moisture. Let the sun-light shine in and vent it durring and after your shower. You might try getting a window fan and point it so it blows air out...

BTW, they may have just painted over the mold before you moved in...

Yes, you can get rid of mold with basically any bathroom cleaner (or just a mix of water and bleach).
To prevent further damage, you can:

Install a ceiling exhaust fan and use it whenever the shower is being used and for an hour after use.

Open the bathroom window while using the shower and for an hour after use (even slightly helps a lot)

Open the bathroom door while using the shower and for an hour after use (even slightly helps a lot)

Use a dehumidifier while using the shower and for an hour after use

Regularly wash the walls and ceiling in the bathroom

Also, odds are if you have mold or mildew growing in one part of the house, you may find it in other parts of your house, especially around windows.

x2 ive seen mildew around some of our windows

My mom was telling me about this home makeover thing she saw, where the people had a small leak and mold started to appear, so they took the basic bleach/water mix to it, though it was over, and it just kept getting worse.

pretty soon, the mold started taking over their house, and confiend them to less and less, till they had to move into a hotel (i think she said like 6-8 people in a hotel room)

But i saw the quick shots of the house they built them....so sick , such a nice house, and only built in a week

Thanks for the suggestions ill get on cleaning the mold off i think that some was present when i moved in as well.

you know what else is odd. I noticed not only in my place but the other town houses next to mine that there is a red recessed heat lamp installed in the bathrooms. Anyone have a thought on what this might be used for

It's a heatlamp which, when combined with the exhaust fan, helps to dry the bathroom quicker after a shower, thus reducing the odds of getting mold or mildew ...
will it have the same effects minus the exhaust fan? there is no exhaust fan in the upstairs bathroom. there is just a window. so should i just leave the window and door open and heat lamp on for a while after a shower?

yes, but it will **** up a lot of energy and raise your power bill. A window fan would work well...

I bet they didnt use the right paint. They make a paint for bathrooms that you can buy that is not expensive I would clean the mold off tell the land lord then buy the paint and paint the ceiling and see if that fixs your problem.
