What exactly is a moderator?

Someone who helps a message board run smoothly.

What exactly are a moderators duties?

Well, Im sure they would have the power to move, edit, delete threads and confer with other moderators and the Administrator about banning and other forum idea's.

Do you want moderators? I sure do. Sure most people think, "why do we need them, the place runs fine by itself". Well, I dont really like to come onto a website and see under General Discussion someone threatening to kill me. Nor do I like to recieve IM's and e-mails from new faces in Mobile Electronics telling me that they were shot down becuase all they were trying to do was ask for help.

I strongly believe moderators would be a cool and helpful thing for this forum.

What if things go wrong, you might say...well, scrap the idea and start again, maybe with a little bit of a different system.

I am not saying that the admin is doing a bad job, in fact he is doing a great job with these boards...but at times I am afraid that a little help is needed...from willing and dedicated members, of course.

I know this is in the wrong section, but so are a lot of other threads...

I think moderators would change the forum drastically in a most positive way. I can tell that there are many candidates for moderators that will be responsible and quite active, there are many members that I would feel happy with being moderators. One, of course, would be ThunderTunes. Lol, just playin.

I feel the exact same way. Nice points Steve...I hate that people turn away from this forum b/c they have been flamed for asking a certain question or because the feel it is anarchy...

i am in the same boat as you guys on this one, the board would appear much more friendly and more memebers would be online more often if moderators were present.

well i'm on tha band wagon wit u dudes. lol it wouldn't be great if a bunch of A**H*L*S could right anything they wanted cause then noone would come on here and peopel like me wouldn't be able to get help.

Steve I am in 100% agreence here. We have seen how Mods can help on other boards **** as ssaudio.com, caraudioresources, and (i think they have 'em) soundillusions.net. They would be a welcome addition by all I believe. Mods would bring back some members of the past possibly, definatly open the door to new members who don't really BS around with stupid "i'll kill you" stuff. Also The mods should be the "top" guys in their area of posting. This way instead of some newbie finding a post wh0re who knows nothing (not insinuationg Jmac here either) they will see the top person is available and can help them, this way they get it right. Granted, I think all that goes without saying but lets have all our bases covered here eh? Anyways, admin if ur reading this we all believe mods could truely benifit this site beacuse, who can run a site their life and work all @ once?? (beings to sing) "Everybody needs some money sometimes"........(money=help here)

You know this board is pretty civil as is. I don't see any reason to change it, I have seen some people removed and stuff so obviously someone is already moderating...

I agree that moderators should be setup on these forumns..I am tired of ignorant rather stupid people always cracking down or ruining a good post...I just love it when I am trying to explain something and some WISE-A** doesnt know a sub from a soup bowl..Has to trash talk..yea the forumns are rather decent but its still those few incidents of low-class behavior that just really gets to me...I go to the forumns to discuss a hobby I enjoy not to trash talk a fellow forumn user or have to hear rather off-topic immature remarks...So to summarize all this giberish that I have just listed is that MODERATORS are most needed for these forumns!! But thats just my personaly opinion

Civil? The first thread in General Discussion in the last sentence said:

ask me about my system and ill kill all of you

...is that civil?
Trust me, if you were around here longer, you wouldnt exactly call it "civil" at times..
