Modding PS2

I had one that was just stolen. It played PS1 and PS2 games no problem. I just got one from ebay but it will not play any PS1 games. They will play on the PS1 so I know they are good.

Anyone know where to get the info on how to get it to play both?

It should do that stock... Try cleaning the lens...

I would think so too, but I try PS1 games then PS2 games and back to PS1 games. Using all different ones. PS1 will not play while PS2 ones will

Try music CD's or the blue bottom PS2 games. PS1 games were just CD ROMS, like the blue bottomed discs or the music CD's. Sometimes the laser just loses its ability to read CD's.

IIRC, it was a voltage problem to the laser. Sometimes it would knock out the DVD *movies or a majority of PS2 games, the ones with the silver bottom* or knock out the CD. Couple that with the DRE syndrome, and the PS2 drives were a little less than stellar. They got most of the bugs worked out by the model SCHP-5001 and on. OP, what model number is the PS2, or is a it a slim or a fat brick style?
