Well, i have been working in the mobile electronics area doing custom audio, lighting fiberglass, remote starters, key less entry, security ect. for about 5 years now, i love doing it but let be honest. Hours ****, no benefits health care retirement or any thing, on top of the wages that aren't great at all. i have went to a vocational school and did a 2 year class on industrial electricity, mecp, and now at a community collage taking electronics engineering....... i dont know where to go from here i feel like im wasting my money paying for effing college.

SoOoO basically i dont know where to go from here any body have any careers that any of this type of knowledge can be applied to....... I will never get out of mobile electronics but i cant do it as a career and be financially set.

I'm curious where you're working?

I've been installing professionally for 3 years. I bounced a round to a few places before finally finding a company I really enjoy working for. The pay is great and benefits are even better - atleast for me.

But if you're taking electronics engineering and such, that would be more of a desk job than installing I would think. Could probably start off as tech support and try to work your way up in a company.

I mean, realistically, the earning potential is only so high without being your own boss and opening a shop.

exactly i agree, and i dont realy wanna open my own place thats a lot of overhead and work and where i leave its not a "booming" industry.. i live in lorain ohio and work at a mobile electronics shop called b's car stereo-no benefits no retirement not even some what of a schedule and 12 a hr no commission or any thing ..

what im going for isnt reallly a electronics engineer, i for get the exact title, basically a person who puts what the engineer designs in to trial and prototyping

understandable, not really looking for a mobile electronics hob seeing how i have one already.... but looking for careers that i can use some of this knowledge and moving to a different career that is similar in some senses....

What about an appreticeship program of some sort, which most are 3 years and have on the job-training and have to do some class work and should have a journeymans card in that 3 years, which means big bucks.

A lot of it goes on how the economy is doing and of course it is in bad shapre right now, but I am thinking of trying to become a mason worker, because they are always in demand.

Gonna check it out soon.
