summed up, at the moment they have basically stole 50$ from me...story\/

My xbox live accnt was scheduled to renew back in feburary for 1yr thing, the debit card it was on had broken and i got a new card so that number was cancelled, well i never used the live and it didnt allow it to renew since the card number was dead, never bothered me though, but i went to get a 3 month live thing the other day and put my new credit card number in and was billed 19.99 for it

now...i looked at my statement online and it shows the 19.99 and a 49.99 that came out of no where, so i called microsoft to try and get it fixed, dialed at 9:15 talking to a lady that i could barely understand, she told me that i owed the 49.99 for previous balance (which i never got the chance to use) and the 19.99 for the 3 month that i signed up for, its simple, all i wanted is my 49.99 back for something i DID NOT get to use since it never got to bill my account, well i went back and forth with her about it and she had to talk to some manager person, well finally at 10:40 i get to talk to a accnt manager about it and the guy was rude, told him the problem short and simple

me: so you are charging me for something i never used how about the 3 month can i cancel it and just use the year thing then?

 

him: no its in our terms of service, we dont refund 3 month subscriptions

 

me: so right now, which subscription am i using?

 

him: the 3 month one, the 1year automatically canceled back in June

 

me: so you charging me 50$ for a 1 year thing when i was never able to use it due to the problem with the card, and you also canceled it so im not able to use it now even though your saying i have to pay the 50$ for it

 

Him: yes, there is nothing we can do about it...is there anything else i can help you with

 

me: no, and i hope you have a great night SIR! :click:

it was alot longer than that, but that sums it up

so basically they just took 50$ from me, the guy was rude about it, and the lady was an idiot, but i never got an attitude or anything till the end with the guy

i will be giving them another call tomorrow and seeing if i can talk to a higher up manager about it and see what will happen

at the moment i hope microsoft burns in hell

i never used it, nor would it let me use it

what happened to the days when you didnt pay, you didnt get it?

so it couldnt charge me, so i couldnt use it, but yet i should still have to pay because everyone knows microsoft is hurting for money

 
you bought a year you signed on for it to automatically update ur subscription if you used it or not isnt microsofts fault. You called them to complain about it you could have called them and told them to cancel your 1 year auto reuping subscription.

 
if it cant renew due to the problem with the card, it should cancel it, like i believe it did, since it would not let me sign in due to accnt problem, why should they get the 50$ for it when they wouldnt let me play it and they also cancelled it so i cant play it now, which they are still trying to make me pay for

50$ is 50$ thats almost a full tank of gas, or lunch for a week

 
Sound's like a mix of both to me but more on the Microsoft end. They love getting their money. It would make a little more sense for them to take the money had you been able to log on and actually use the account, but as you stated it wouldn't let you use it so evidently they canceled it but yet you still have to pay for something that they admitted to canceling. I had something similar happen with my old internet company. I had it paid up for the year and set to not auto-renew afterwards but even after the year was up it still auto-renewed not to mention I still got charged the $24.99 for that same month and they tried not to refund my money. I ended up calling my bank and telling them it was a fraudulent charge that I didn't make and the bank was generous enough to do a charge back to my account and issued me a new credit card. I didn't get the 24.99 back but I'd rather lose the $24.99 then lose $249. Maybe you could talk to your bank about this and see if they will help you out if Microsoft won't fix it.
