I'm in my 4th week of using microcontrollers in one of my college courses. So far I found these to be quite interesting. No very experienced yet with them but I was wondering how many other people use microcontrollers and what kind of projects they have done?

"microcontrollers" can be taken several ways. Are you talking about low level z80 processors, or programmable logic controllers?

programmable logic. The one i deal with in school is the ateml 8051. You have the ability to program in both c or assembly language.

ive made a few gadgets with them that were able to pick up and store info from TIRIS RFID platform based devices.

I use d16 PIC for my projects.

Ive actually owned a few and written ladder for those things for some toxic waste plants down south in Texas.

anyone got any ideas for a project that involves the 8051 microcontroller? I got a senior project coming up next semester and was trying to find some ideas on what to do. Must include a close loop feedback system

As stated, make a black box using a 8051 intrfaced with a TIRIS RFID to capture data from targets and transmit to cell or laptop based data bases.

This works by having the "black Box" in close proxcimity to a "target" and snatching info from the fobs or creditcards that have rif tech installed.
