metallica-black album...

Black is probably the best in my opinion, because it's emotional, well thought out, and flat out balls to the wall rocks at the same time. Sure, justice's "get drunk and play hard" attitude is awesome, but black is on a different level to me.

x2...check ur rep too:cool:

I guess I have to be the killjoy here and disagree with every previous response before this one...

...And Justice For All was decent and the black album had its own edge but in my humble opinion everything after the untimely loss of Cliff Burton is but a shell of what once was...

Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, and Master Of Puppets are so much more genuine than anything that followed that they simply do not bear being compared, realistically. While I will allow that later albums were more musical as the skill level of the various band members increased exponentially but to me feeling....'soul' if you will....is a hugely important component of any album and there is indescribably more soul in the first three albums than anything they produced in following years.

Black was decent but to me, by far not the best.

And Justice For All is probably my personal fav. from Metallica, Followed by Master Of Puppets, and Ride The Lightning.

I also think And Justice is very emotional as well, because they made it right after Cliff Burton was killed. More of an angry album towards that situation.

Black album was the beginning of the end imo..its got a few good tracks and all, but its also got some bs on it...

master of puppets was the best album imo..ride the lightning following closely behind...

Ride the Lightning is the best album...

Fade to Black, For Whom the Bells tolls, Creeping Death..

and justice for all, followed by master of puppets were their best. these guys were the epitome of heavy metal.

sadly, i believe that once the black album came out, they succumbed to the masses of media marketing and sold out. it has all been down hill for metallica ever since.
