I've got a 1080p tv coming today so I set this up over the weekend. I've got Xbox Media Center running on an older dell running ubuntu server 7.10. It runs awesome. The only advantages to doing it on here instead of an xbox is you can do those big matroska files, more storage, pc capability. It runs on windows, linux, intel Macs and xboxes.

720p sorry, it looks pretty good and I honestly can't tell the difference.. Played that 'Planet Earth' in HD and it looks as good if not better than it did getting a HD signal through my Comcast box.

The streaming works great unless I have a bunch of torrents going through. I am still glad I ended up with the PS3 also because I always had problems with having a shitty wireless connection on my 360's for some reason.

There is supposed to be a ton of things you can do to the PS3 as far as hacking, I will probably look into it at some point but want to keep my ability to go online and play which was an issue with XBox Live from what I had heard at that point.
