Just curious. In order to be an installer at a shop, do i need to be certified?

Thought about trying to get a job at a little car audio shop thats close by considering im gonna have a ton of extra time starting next week, but i dont have any certifications. I feel like im a fairly good installer.

Most of the MECP Installers I know are Idiots

Someone can study to pass one of those tests and never worked on an actual vehicle

But do it your self or untrained installers have a lot of bad habits to correct and over come

MOST jobs like CA would rather have experience starting off over the certification... the certification just lets the store/shop say "we have 10+ installers with certification"

i worked at about 5 diff. ca shops.. they all told me to get more experience...and what they meant was... LEARN HOW TO INSTALL REMOTE STARTS/ALARMS"

if you get good at those, you can pretty much name where you work.

on a side note... get a master installer certification, and Best Buy will give you a $5 raise!!
