Hey, im planning on going to a meca competition in about 15 days or so. I was wondering if you guys had any pointers on what to do or if my setup is even allowed. I will be running an IA 20.1 on 2 HDC310's. My electrical consists of a stock battery up front and a Deka 9a31 in the trunk. Is this battery allowed? I read the rules and it seemed unclear as to if it was or not. Also, i would be in the 551-1000 class if i run a 80A fuse. Also, i dont have any vocals in my car as of now. Will they allow my car to compete? DO they really care if the mids/highs are heard outside of the car? Also, are they strict about tones or do you have to play music? Thanks guys for any help!

Mike

i cant help with the amature rules. But, at the last meca comp that I went to everyone was playing tones. So it doesnt matter if you dont have any mids/highs.

But I'm no judge. ****ers stuck me in modex. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

You cannot use secondary batteries in AS class. If I were you id just use the Deka for the whole setup. You must have vocals since you have to play music for that class....even if its one 3" mid out of a 85 buick skylark that's partially blown - as long as it plays some sort of audio that can be heard at least inside the car.

My suggestion is to find out what fequency your vehicle is peaking at, and find a song with a steady tone around that fequency throughout the song.

See i knew I was wrong.

I just bought an 80 amp fuse so i can drop classes. Ill prolly play tones. I may buy some pg rsd's from someone on here but i dont think ill have fiberglass pods done in 15 days. lol. Im building a new box this week. Its 3 cubes @ 45hz with 57sq in of port. My current box is 2 cubes @ 40 hz with 50sq of port and im hitting 143s. SO if i can hit 144 with wires out of the port in a new box i will be satisfied.

if u play tones u wno't be in the amateur class. they'll put u in street. also remember meca meters at the head, not the kick so if ur scores are in the kick prepare for them to be lower (in most cases).

My scores were at the dash. How to they compare to headrest. Im sure its car dependant. Ok, ill just find a song that peaks right where im at. Ill have to do alot in the next few days. Ill just throw the stock speakers in the doors and run it off the HU amp. lol.

dash is still about 1-2db higher than the headrest score in most cases. definitely start with Amateur street man. remember you have to use a licensed CD, no burned discs. Find something with at least 5seconds of your peak frequency's note to get a good reading on the meter.

oh how I wanna do a meca show now. we need more ohio shows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

O, ok guess ill have to see where im at, then go buy a cd. my list of things to do is getting bigger and bigger

If it goes over 145 with you in it it is a DQ,

AS is music only, once you go to street it can be tones.

mic in the driver seat for AS, you outside or in passenger seat.

Car off.

you can use MP3 and burned disks, but not at finals.

are you sure your amp will burp on an 80 amp?

Ive burped it on 100A. Ill try on 80, if i blow it, then we will know that it cant;). I have a Eclipse 8445. I dont believe it has a remote. I dont think it has pause either.

I have an 8445 as well. It has a remote. But no pause as far as I know.
Well when i got mine form someone on here, i never received a remote that i know of. Ima go check tho to make sure. Pause is actually a reallly important feature and i have no clue why you wouldnt put it on a deck.
