Mean Streets was the worst movie I have seen in such a long time. I was ****ing astonished. Scorsese lost so much cred in my eyes for that pile of crap. It was two hours of confused idiots fumbling with the controls of life the way the confused idiot who wrote it fumbled with the creation of a coherent script. I have never been so unpleasantly surprised by a movie in my life. One spastic half-cocked scene after another, all leading up to the most blisteringly unspectacular anticlimax I have ever seen.
This is up there with "Unleashed" and "The Benchwarmers" as the worst movies I've ever seen, but at least those were widely recognized as the motion picture equilent of a ruptured septic tank. Mean streets is a 4 star movie that is widely accepted as a classic. WHAT THE ****, AMERICA? WHAT THE ****? Is it just because it's directed by Scorsese? Are we really so obsessed with violent underculture that if he produces ANYTHING along those lines and stamps his name on it we get in line to kiss his ass?
Did anyone above subhuman intelligence like this movie?
