i work at home depot and you can buy 2'x4' mdf but depending on the size box you are building the 4'x8' sheet is a better deal.

A 4x8 sheet of 3/4 is about $20, but the 2x4 sheets are only about $6 and easier to handle.

Lowe's only sells mdf in like 97 x 49, I believe
