McIntosh MX4000 and MDA4000

Ok so I paid for the McIntosh set in the title (and also have the power meter accessory from another source coming) from a guy in LA. Well now he may not be able to come up with the wire to connect the MX4000 to the MDA4000... Should I call this deal off? He seems like a nice enough guy, was just curious if anyone has had this combo and could comment on the wiring necessary to join these two components... I have heard rumors that it is a very specific wire needed to make them work. Hu is from the late 90's >.

awesome combo! always wanted it.

read the manuals to determine the required connectivity between the two. likely, it is specialized, but you should be able to find it elsewhere. course, the manuals are probably only in Japanese since they are not US models.

the MDA is an external digital to analog converter. you need a fiber optic cable to connect the MX4000 to the MDA4000. the end connections appear to be pretty unique. finding that cable is important.

you can see the round fiber optic connector in the back of the HU and the cable in the pic below. looks like a push-on F-connector with fiber inside.

Well that transaction fell through... Hard...

So I used paypal to buy that thing and the guy doesn't ship it!!! Said that the digital to analoge converter was in his storage unit... Pretty upset :/ Two months and the guy couldn't get it from storage, rediculous. Paypal refunded my money... guess I'm on the lookout again for one.
