ok, thats fine. So smoking pot can hurt you, alright. To what degree can it harm you is to be debated, but I dont think anyone will argue that inhaling smoke into a lung will do some damage. I think that there is a huge paranoia around drugs that leads to some false information being spread (for example, shrooms cause brain hemorrhages), but this may just be my opinion, as I have not done any official studies myself. I have only read them and can speak to a point from personal experience.I also dont think anyone will dis-agree with the fact that smoking pot all the time will affect your motivation significantly. I know I've noticed changes when I was smoking more heavily at one point, such as a lack of motivation. But otherwise, when used in moderation, I have not found adverse effects.
If someone goes out drinking on the weekends, that doesnt mean they are going to suffer during the week in whatever they do (well mabye Monday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. And even if they do, that's their own choice, and they will pay the consequences. However, if someone drinks everyday, you will see dramatic negative effects to health, productivity, etc. But once again, that is their choice. There is help available for people in those situations, but 'you can take a horse to the water but you cant make them drink.'
So alcohol hurts you too. So does smoking cigarettes. Hey, the government lets you do THAT to yourself, even though it causes significant harm, but the government takes a huge cut, and gets huge benefits from tobacco companies. Which links to my point about why some things are illegal to do to your own self and some are not: gov't interests.
I dont know how much more we can continue in this thread, but I'd really like to hear what Squeak has to say here.
