magnet crack

I just received an idmax 12. it seems like there is two magnets put together. there is maybe a milimeter gap in between them and some minor cracks.

is this normal??

When you say "milimeter gap" are you saying you could take something like a business card and slid it between the magnets? Because that doesn't sound good if that's how it is.

a plain piece of computer paper can fit easily.

So you're saying there is about a 1 mm gap where line 1 is pointing?

a business card can fit at line # 2 at top and bottom. Line # 1 i can fit paper through.

Eh, that sounds bad, I have the older IdMax so I cannot comment on the new ones..... but I doubt the gaps are supposed to be there.

Unless there are actual pieces of magnet that are missing, I'm having a hard time seeing how that would've happened.. sorry couldn't be of more help

Ah, you should be alright. Nothing looks abnormal about that. As long as nothing is loose I'd say you're good to go.

aka, do you hear a scratching noise when pressing on the cone

if i push it towards one side theres scratching but in the middle theres no sound. Im sending this one back anyways. They sent me the wrong sub, it was suppossed to be 2ohm. that one is 4.

i dont have an amp yet. should i keep this one and work with it or get the idmax12 d2
