Mach 5 IXL18 vs Maelstrom X vs FI Q

Which would get louder in the trunk of my car? I have enough room to do either one of these subs sealed or ported in my trunk. If I go sealed I may add another in the coming months. I have about 2000watts available for power. Does anyone have any experince with the IXL or the Maelstrom? The Q has numerous reviews so I know they are pretty good drivers.

I have built a couple of IXL 18's for Home Theaters. 10+ cuft enclosures + 1000 watts RMS = Low end monster for HT.

Nice drivers, but I would do the Q in a car.

Why the Q over the IXL? I have about 9 or 10 cuft to spare if need be

It is one of those thing where I have used a lot of different subwoofers in the car and home, and the IXL just seems like a better HT sub than car sub. That is just my opinion, I am sure others might disagree.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, just asking questions. You would take the Q ported, but would 2 SSD18s sealed in 4cuft a piece be able to take the Q in 7cuft? SQ isn't really what I'm after, so I really don't care which would be more accurate as long as it doesn't sound like azz

I would suggest something other than the IXL. While it can get loud, it is not an all out volume monster. It simply wasn't designed for that.

What would you suggest then? I'm dead set on an 18 btw

The BL 18 would also be a good choice with 2000 watts in 7 ft ported.

There are a *lot* of good deals in the classified section. Consider RD - I understand they are all out SPL drivers...

I don't need an all out spl sub, I need something for daily beating. Everything in the classifieds is either d1 coils or too **** expensive. I've seen a few FI subs that are priced well, but those are also D1s. I really want to find a pair of SSD18s someone has sitting in their closets. Know anybody?
