Loudness of 720PRS vs. CL-61A

Ok currently I have the CDTs installed with no deadening and getting about 80W RMS. Now I know the power handling of the 720PRS is rated at 50RMS but that people can give them up to 200 RMS without and problems - so I'm thinking I'll upgrade to a more powerful amp.

What I'm wondering is - aside from sounding a ton better, will they be louder at the same Wattage?

Most would say it depends on the install. Which is a fair assumption.

yea well most people have been saying that there 200W Max rating and their real durable construction would kind of make you think they'll take anything below 200 real well...

Have you thought about upping the wattage to your 61's ? I'm running 150w to mine and I'm happy with them.

It's because they'll never see that kind of power in a real world environment. Bigger amps just allow people to blow them by being stupid

that doesnt really seem like a good answer - are you suggesting that Pioneer just rated them so conservatively just because they think people won't listen anyway?

i would definitely like to know why they were rated at 50WRMS
