I've read so many posts on here about how a 2nd battery won't do anything to help dimming, the alt powers the car when it's running, etc...
But a 200a HO alt, SVR, and BIG 3 in 1/0 didn't fix it, so I decided to add a Deka Intimidator to the trunk. REMY is only about 45 minutes away, so $135 later I had a BIG battery ready to be installed.
Install is NOT pretty as I just wanted it installed for now and it was 17 degrees yesterday and the torpedo heater wouldn't fire up.
Results: very slight dimming at idle when at full tilt and none when cruising along. Even better is the subs definitely hit harder as I was probably getting some pretty severe voltage drops, but amp never went into protect.
Front battery = 14.55v at idle
Rear battery = 14.53v at idle which I assume is acceptable for an 18' run with 2 ANL fuses inline.
Now I have over 300#'s of subs, boxes, battery, amp in the trunk and the rear was sagging pretty badly. Car is a 2000 Altima with struts on the rear, so I searched for springs/spacers and never really found anything. Decided to just make my own adjustable spacers and was able to raise the rear end up 1 1/4" and it sits nice again.
I'll try to post a few pics tonight. All in all it was a good upgrade weekend as stuff doesn't always go as planned //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
