Heres the deal. I want to do a single 15" but my box is only 2.5 cubes. I've been told it might be better to do single 12" instead.

The box is 34"w 13"h 17"d. Up firing dual rear port. (1 on each side) tuned to 33hz. Is this TOO small for 15?

I'm going to put 1400rms at 2ohm and looking for mainly SQ with lows.

heres my choices:

AudioQue hd3 12

FI Q 12

DC lvl 4 with lvl 5 coils 12

what would sound best but stay low with 1400rms (all 3 are rated 1000rms)

Kinda need help quick because the box is being built now!

The HDC needs higher tuning, so thats out. The Q with all the options would be a good choice. The DC would like more power. Try a IA Leathal Injection or a Death Row, either would work great for you and get hella loud. I have a Sonic FX12, which is the same as a Death Penalty, and I love it on the power I have. Kills lows and gets stupid loud. You could also try a Treo SSI or even SSX

I think you'll be fine with 1400w to a lvl 4 with upgraded coils. I have a saz1500d and just ordered a 10'' lvl 4 xl....Rusty said that I have enough power for the xl so I'm sure you'll be fine.

thank you and I forgot to mention $300 limit for 1 sub. I know FI Q goes over a little with all options.

Any other suggestions? Probably buying in next couple of days!

none of those subs sound like sq subs to me (with the exeption of the q, but even then not a true sq sub) from what i know of sq steups id have to say image dynamics or morel for a nice sq sub, haven't run either myself but have heard the morel and it sounded great (hit the lows very well too), but both suggestions wouldn't require as much power as you have... i'm not a huge sq guy but i'd also add digital designs 2512 to your list (not an sq sub either) but it will hit the lows well and handle your 1400...

ok the Lethal Injection only claims 500 Wrms / 1000 peak according to site. the Treo ssi claims 750 Watts RMS

the aq, fi, dd, lethal injection, will all be able to handle a good deal more than what they will claim rms power handling will be. any of these choices will get real loud off the power you'll be giving them. assuming you'll be giving the 1400 @ 2 ohm, this figure may or may not be based on 14.4 volts, if it is it will never do that much, also consider box rise, this brings the impedance down a small amount too so of your 1400 (if it's rated @ 14.4 volts) your sub will probably see more like 1200 give or take in a real world electrical application, unless you have a h/o alternator ar second battery, batcap, etc... etc...

and if it was me i will say again i'd get the dd... they slam...

I really look the look of the RE's with the concave cone. hmm any other QUALITY subs shaped like that? I found a couple...

RE SX looks nice but I don't think it fits my application.

BTW nobody else said box was too small for 15" Sill waiting on confirmation.

Idmax 12's like about 2.5 cubes ported. there are a few 15's that can work in something that small. The ED 16ov.2, the SS RL-p, the Treo TSX or TE 15, among a few others.

Also, it is usually customary to fit the box to the sub, not vice versa. Why not just get the sub you want and build a new box? The box is as important as the sub, and some may argue that it is even more important.

That was the plan. the dimensions I stated were max that would fit my car, its a hatchback. I wanted 15 but too small. The box is in building stage right now, somebody on here is building 1 for me.

I wanted max potential that's why I asked what sub matches THIS box.
