I just bought a laser online and it was only 3bucks. and i was just outside seeing how far it could go, and it was hitting the farthest house i could spot. i was just curious if anyone knew how far the standard laser beam could go.

Yep. Most handheld laser pointers are within 1 mile. But boast a 3 mile range.
