Korea's at it again...

Because this will solve everything. Oh lets Nuke them that'll tech them. Go ahead and destroy the planet because there is no winner in nuclear war there is only the end.

That's really how they operate over there, though. Both Jung-Il and Jung-Un take no regard in any potential consequences while throwing out threats like nuclear war. I honestly think they're crazy enough to do it, it's just...I don't think they care. Luckily, the U.S. isn't exactly defenseless against something like this. Even though nothing may ever touchdown in the US, it's definitely a possibility if they were to ever launch anything, some serious stuff would start to go down.

analysts are still saying that they may not have what it takes to create such a missle. but the thought is still scary as hell
Definitely. Realizing the possibility of not waking up tomorrow really makes you appreciate what you have today. Luckily, like I said, the United States isn't exactly defenseless.

Meh, North Korea does this all the time. Did you forget when they sank a South Korean ship, and then fired artillery onto South Korean islands a couple years ago? It's a charade they play, they've always got to be the center of attention. Plus, they don't have useful nukes. Nothing that will make it to US soil without us intercepting. But if the war did start up again, there would be huge damage to South Korea. Seoul would be gone. There would be hundreds of thousands dead, to include 20k or more of our military.

And don't forget that the Korean War is technically still going. It was never ended.

That's right. A cease fire was called, but no peace treaties were ever actually signed. We're still at war, and these insane leaders are threatening us, along with other countries with their nuclear capabilities that may or may not exist. I'm sure they realize that they'd never get a nuclear armament onto U.S. soil, so I don't know if they do it just to stir sh*t up, or what...

It's half and half. The new regime needs to prove itself, and they really don't have much to lose. The people are starving, the only ones that are fed really are the military, and even they don't get much. I don't understand their mentality, don't know if I ever will as to why they need to keep starting crap. But the propaganda that they feed their country is astounding. They really believe that they are superior. I could write a ton, I've been stationed in South Korea and visited the DMZ and seen more than most, but I'm tired.

Well, feel free to chime in tomorrow - seeing that you have experience, I'd love to get some insight. I'm sure more will chime in through the night, too. They really don't have too much to lose, but what do they have to gain, honestly? Some attention? All this is doing is slowing any progress they may be making towards political or economical stability, nobody wants to help a country threatening nuclear war, and God knows they need help over there. We don't even know if they really have the capabilities to do it, it's just...nobody wants to call their bluff. I sure as hell don't.

Relevant...This documentary always stood out in my mind. The brainwashing is astounding.

Inside North Korea - YouTube
i'm now watching this... just what they have going on at the South/North Korean border is wild
Thanks for posting that man. I've seen it before. The propaganada speaker system they talk about in north korea at the DMZ I have seen/heard before. I've been to the DMZ, and it is surreal. Absolutely humbling. Scary. You feel so small, and absolutely powerless. At the same time, you get a feeling of patriotism and hatred towards them. I have to believe they get the exact same feelings.
