Spoiler to keep you reading – this is where we are now: Several years ago, I built up a 2005 Scion tC for a friend. That build log is here: http://www.caraudio.com/forums/car-audio-build-logs-cars-trucks-suvs/516096-2005-scion-tc-sq-hertz-audison-pioneer-build-log.html A few years ago, I made another friend with a 2011 Scion tC – we met through the forums and it turns out we are in the same town. He had a system installed by a local shop (that went out of business promptly after). That shop cut a lot of corners and delivered a poorly functioning system. This build log will walk through our efforts, as there are several intermediate steps through now. The first thing I noticed was the JL ZR650ci tweeters weren’t working. So I looked into the system, tested all components, and determined both tweeters were blown. My buddy says they always sounded muted up front so I suspect they either gave him blown tweeters or mixed up the crossover outputs. Either way, we ordered new tweeters and installed them on the doors, not tucked inside the doors. My buddy wanted a 3-way to go in there but the ZR series doesn’t have a matching mid. Maybe in the future. The first time I modified the amp rack, I added the MS8. The cap used to be between the amps, but that was a better place for the MS8. The wiring under the rack was loose and haphazard. The ZR650ci were ran active off the JL HD600/4.
