Kenwood XXV-01D or kenwood KDC-X990

Which one of these head units is better?Kenwood XXV-01D or kenwood KDC-X990.Are the both about the same.What seperatesone from the other thanks.

As I am looking at the archived Crutchfield pages for both of these units I think the only thing that separates one from the other is the inclusion of the 25th Anniversary logo and display graphics on the XXV-01D whereas they are (obviously) going to be absent on the KDC-X990.

The XXV-01D was supposedly produced in more limited numbers than other regular production-run eXcelon models and has a numbered card included with each unit so there is a minimal degree of exclusivity associated with the XXV over the X990....but as far as performance specs on paper?

It would appear that they are identical units.

I use the XXV-01D myself and it's kinda cool having the 25th Anniversary logo across the display when it is cycling through its startup graphics but outside of that I don't think I have anything in mine that you wouldn't have in an X990...

Sounds right. I wouldnt mind having a new kenwood with the usb\flash and built in hard drive though....

Not a single complaint on my xxv.

i too, have the 01D, and love it. if u can find one, i say get it.

prowler, did u see if the 990 had all the cool g-force meters n stuff on it?
