thanks for the links....didnt give me much more info than i already knew but thanks

i really want this if it has the same eq system as the 990 (which im pretty sure it will)

One dramatic change (for the better) in the X991 Vs. the X990 is independently adjustable T/A for each output channel. Don't know why is wasn't always this way but at least Kenwood finally got the idea that their previous incarnation of this function was seriously lacking...

The slated release date for the KDC-X991 is July '07.

I very well may have to get one and retire my XXV-01D back to its box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

*sigh* More money to spend...

Hmm....apparently now that I've done a bit of reading....the X991 uses a 3-band paraEQ whereas the top-end eXcelon decks from years previous used a 4-band. I wonder why they would lessen the internal EQ's functionality?!?

Humm, good question! I didn't notice that. Mine is 4 band.
As I recall your KDC-X990 is pretty much exactly the same as my XXV-01D as far as operation goes and looks pretty much the exact same as well excepting the obvious lack of the "25th Anniversary" logos and graphic in the startup screens. (which play no part in its output anyway so for this discussion they're rather useless)

I meant flash memory not hard drive. I might be on crack but I dont see a usb input on the 990. I was told that you have to buy an adapter for the 990 to have a usb.

what exactly will this mean? such as the old decks had 4 bands to adjust where this will have only bass treble and mids? either way, this deck seems to be the one for me, count on a review once its out, ill be on it right away
