Kenwood KDC-x692 cuts on and off

Everytime i turn it up past a certain volume it cuts completely and then comes back on until i turn it down i dont have my system in there yet so its just runing the door speakers with no amp.. i've completely reran speaker wires from all the speakers to the headunit.. recrimped and electical taped all the wires so nothing is touchin anything.. it played for about 15 min at full volume then started doin it again...im thinkin its just a bad unit... i dunno its pissin me off alot and im bout done wit it....

does anybody have any advice??????

Pushing the HU past about 3/4 of the volume will cause clipping. I know on my Kenwood HU the volume goes to a max of 35 and I never exceed 25.

i have had my 993 up to 35 with no clipping.
