Well, ladies and gentlemen, here's your chance to grab a less than 3 month old Kenwood eXcelon 25th Anniversary XXV-01D head unit (which is under valid warranty from Crutchfield until 12.23.07) for a song!

No, no, no....I haven't jumped ship and turned my back on my beloved eXcelon....here's the deal:

I took my car to Performance Car Wash & Lube Center here in my hometown to get my car washed and whatnot. Not only did they do a piss-poor job washing my car (it wasn't vacuumed well and my windows were streaky when they were "finished") but they managed to scratch the faceplate to my deck while my car was in their possession. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Some Joe Manager-type guy came and talked to me as I was beginning to raise 9 kinds of hell about my stereo being screwed up and quickly pointed out some lame sign that stated "We cannot be held responsible for damage to any non-OEM equipment."

Sometimes it is handy to have an attorney for a boss and after a hasty phonecall to him Joe Manager was singing a different tune. It was relayed to me that Joe Manager's conversation with my boss contained references to factory navigation systems in some cars listing for many thousands of dollars and the inability in the state of Louisiana to sign away your rights to something that has not occurred yet. Long story short arrangements were made for my XXV-01D to be replaced.

So! I have a mechanically perfect yet cosmetically flawed eXcelon XXV-01D for sale. It is still installed in my car currently but if someone would like to buy it it would be literally a matter of minutes to swap this one out with the BNIB replacement sitting in my closet.

Problems with this unit:

Faceplate is scratched in spots on the display portion of the face as well as in the chrome finish across the bottom. In certain lighting you don't notice the scratches at all. In others they are rather noticeable. They obviously do not photograph well but I did try:

5v preouts

Internal amp has never been powered. Before the unit was ever turned on the first time the internal amp was defeated via the Standby menu.

4 band parmetric EQ

Time alignment

SRS WOW processing

Customizeable full-color OEL display

.mp3, .wma, .aac, and .mcd (this last being a Kenwood proprietary compressed music format....applicable software included) playback

Etc etc etc.....

Is it just a bunch of minor scratches?

Like I said - they don't photograph well. There are two or three pretty bad scratches (bad to me, at any rate...) on the display itself and then some somewhat bad scratches in the chrome trim along the bottom. In certain lighting and certain viewing angles you'd never notice them. Other times you can't help but to notice them. Because they do not photo well possibly I am making them out to be worse than a buyer would consider them to be but I'd rather a buyer get more than what they expected than less.
I'll put it this way....if they were what I would term as 'minor' I'd probably keep it and have a top-notch backup in case of emergencies, ya know? But to me they aren't minor and all they do is aggravate me everytime they catch my eye so I want it gone. Mechanically it is perfect. Operationally it is A-OK. But these flaws in the front of it (that should NOT be there in the first place ~ I didn't freggin put 'em there!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif) make it a necessity to sell it so I don't go on a shooting spree at the carwash everytime I look at the durned stereo.

I considered doing just that but then I figured it would be better to keep each faceplate with the unit it was originally supplied with. Besides - given the choice which one would you use? Bump it up, folks......nice deck here for less than half of what it retailed for! All accessories that were supplied with it when I got it will be supplied to the new owner as well.

$235 FIRM will get you this unit will every accessory that was supplied in the box by Kenwood (which includes the unit itself, the faceplate and faceplate carrying case, the remote*, the owner's/installation manuals, warranty cards, numbered 25th Anniversary Limited Edition card, PhatNoise Media Manager install disc and manual, faceplate cleaning cloth, wiring harness, ISO-DIN mounting screws, permanent faceplate attachment screw, Kenwood Car Audio Passport card, and the removal keys to take the HU chassis out of the mounting sleeve) shipped anywhere in the continental United States. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail service with Delivery Confirmation and insured for $240.

[* The remote has never been used or even out of the box. I still use the credit-card type remote I bought as an addition to a cassette receiver I purchased some years ago so the remote and the batteries for said remote that Kenwood supplied with this unit are still in BNIB condition having never been needed by me]

As I do not want to remove this unit from my car until it sells (if it even does) and I do not want to mix one HUs parts with the other HU I'm going to have to decline your offer.
