Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1002DVC burned coils???

anyone have any experience with Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1002DVC 10"subs.

i bought a pair and hooked them up to a KAC-X811D at factory settings and connected series-parrallel to 2ohms. after a while of playing one of them when off and then the other //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif then when i took them off to see what was wong the coils were burned was the amp to much for the subs? how do the coils on the subs get burned?
