Kenwood eXcelon cd eject big mistakes, uh!

Well, I've been working on re-doing my system for about a month and a half now and looking to finish up by next week, but I can't play cds anymore....

A while back I tried to eject a cd, it started to, then proceeded to get stuck. When switching through sources on my eXcelon x790 it doesn't list CD Player as it assumes that the disc is out.

So, today I took some needle-nose pliers (flame away) and pulled the sucker cd out, thinking that I can now try another.

Well, I try to stick another one in, but something inside is blocking it.... something's out of position internally even though the deck doesn't think that there's a disc in there....

How screwed am I? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

ur deck might have a reset button on it... my my guess is that your F-ed

have a nice day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I know this isnt your problem, but a friend of mine had a problem that cds wouldnt eject and were very hard to put in in the winter because the tight foam surround hardened and it couldnt push the cd through.

pull the cover and check it out inside, what do you have to lose?

This happened to me with my kenwood deck. Try hitting the reset button. If that doesnt work you may have to cut power to it to reset it and eject the CD. Assuming it isnt a hardware breakage.

GOT IT! Phew, reset it a couple of times, completely disconnected it all together. Then upon re-connecting, it assumes there was a disc inside still, gave me an Error 5 code (cd is upside-down) but everytime I tried to put a new one in, it'd spit it out, reset again and again, finally snuck one in and it played!

Man, I've had every problem on this car. Alt. whine, tweeter static, broken door panels, rewired twice, completely selling all parts and restarting again, sub boxes that just wouldn't fit, and now thankfully this cd player problem is over.

I WILL FINISH THIS $@#)%&*@Y^!I(

Well, my story takes a new spin as yes, it will play the disc inserted. But when I hit eject, it will eject the disc but continue to do "something" as there's mechanisms still moving inside. It then proceeds to get stuck in the opened up position and will not close whatsoever. I can switch to the radio and it plays and all, but when switching back to CD Player, nothing, won't even let me put another one in.

The only way I've been able to change discs is to reset the player and when it resets the mechanisms move inside and take the disc only at that point.

WHY!

yo ive got a kenwood-kvt717dvd. mine does the same thing. I KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. well its not a fix but i know how to get the CDs out and in when this shit happens. first time it happened to me it wouldnt spit the CD out and read MECHANICAL ERROR. you could hear the motor trying to spit it out everytime u press eject.. but it woulnt eject. so being the smart guy that i am, i did some experimenting and found out how to get it out.

if the CD won't eject get another CD and wait for the motor to stop trying to eject. THEN press the eject button.. youll hear the motor trying to eject again. while the motor is spinning take ANY CD and slide it into the cd player as if to insert it (dont jam it in though you're just sliding it in til the sensor sees it). when the sensor sees this CD it should spit out the CD that is stuck. VOILA! everything should work fine now. mine will do it every once in a rare while.

My problem is a little bit different... did I word it poorly? It'll eject the disc, but then the mechanism just keeps spinning the then the faceplate proceeds to be stuck down in the load position. It won't let me push any cds in and if I hit eject it'll just keep going and going.

I can partially insert a disc, hit the reset, and then it'll eat it and play just fine. Just a horrible way to change cds and having to redo all settings again.

Where was this eXcelon HU purchased from?
Bought it used off a guy on another forum. He bought it from Crutchfield, so I've been talking to him and emailing Kenwood with ideas of what to do.

a) The eXcelon decks come with a 2-year parts and labor warranty (if purchased from an authorized source and Crutchfield is the only authorized online source of eXcelon gear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif)

b) Since it was purchased from an authorized source and isn't 2 years old yet just get the person you bought it from to give Crutchfield a ring and get an RMA # from them, send it back, and get it fixed.

The only sticky part about the whole affair is that you'll have to send it back to the guy you bought it from, he'll have to send it back to Crutchfield, they'll send it back to him, and then he'll have to send it back to you once repaired.
