kenwood DPX592BT VS. Pioneer FHX592BS (haven't purchased a head unit in years)

Alright,

I'm wanting a non touch screen double din Head unit for my '08 GMC sierra with steering wheel controls.

I don't really need the Bluetooth or any phone connecting capability.

I haven't purchased any car audio since about 2010.

Wondering who of the two offers good sound quality and product build quality.

And equalizer control + good sub controls would be a plus for me as I'm wanting to replace all factory speakers and add some bass to it, I've missed having a system for a long time.

I used to be die hard pioneer, but things do change in time.

Any insight on them is appreciated. Or if you know of another option I'll look into it as well

Thanks ya'll.

My device seems to be against the following part numbers:

Kenwood DPX592BT

VS

PIONEER FH-X820BS

Those are the pair I was looking into.

Thanks for the advice.

Mainly concerned with having one that has good sound quality and built in equalizer.

the pioneer i listed is in EVERY way superior to the one you listed. the x820bs from pioneer only has 5 band EQ, no network capabilities nor time alignment. Utterly tr*sh in the sound tuning department.

now the kenwood vs the fx x731bt

both have 13 band EQ and time alignment EQ wise, they are the same.

the pioneer only has 2 volt pre-out and the kenwood has 4 volt pre-out meaning your amplifier gains will need to be set higher with the pioneer because the signal strength will be weaker.

The pioneer has the ability to completely crossover tweeters, midbass and subwoofer individually without needing any kind of passive crossover meaning you can buy raw drivers and power them straight to an amp and choose proper crossover points and slopes to match your vehicle's acoustics. The kenwood does not have this ability. This is mainly for more advanced users, not for noobs.

Modern features is basically the same, your choice on aesthetics.

Thanks for the deeper analysis.

I have an extended cab '08 sierra and need to retain full use of my rear seat so space is limited to what I can fit behind the door panels and under the rear seat.

I thought about trying to install atleast a high range amp to power the door speakers inside the rear door but currently don't know how much room is in there.

I suppose the kenwood is the better option here to keep from having external devices take up already limited room, which is also a goal in this.

Installed the Kenwood 592 along with some JBL GTO series door speakers into my truck today.

Am rather pleased with the results.

Haven't got the steering wheel controls figured out yet, but the remote will suffice for now.

Thanks for the advice.
