Purchasing this Kenwood DNX5140 for a 2007 ford edge with factory sub.

I would like to add sirius tuner and ipod connection.Found a installer, but i'm going to be purchasing the dnx5140,sirius tuner and ipod connection on my own. My question is what sirius tuner should i get and what do i need to purchase to connect a ipod classic?

That unit has a rear usb that will allow direct control of your ipod functions, including video I believe. The only thing you might need is a usb extension depending on where you want to run it.

And as far as satellite, you need the sirius direct tuner kit and then you're good to go.

By the way great choice on the indash. I've installed a ton of that specific model and the customer is always very happy with it. Built in Garmin GPS is the shit!

is there a specific model# for the sirius tuner? Also, you mean just a regular ipod to usb connector and just add a usb extension?

How hard would this be for me to install myself and is there a site that would show me how to take out the factory radio(like taking apart the dash)?

what kind of car are you installing it in?

It isn't all that hard, but it depends on the person really. If you're pretty car savvy and want to learn then go for it. Many members here would be glad to answer any questions you have.

Hardest things for you would probably be dismantling your car and running the gps and sat antenna's.

That car is relatively easy.

It's really up to you. If you feel confident and have the basic tools (crimpers, cutters, strippers, etc) then I say go for it.

But if you decide to attempt it, don't half *** it and then bring it to an installer if you get stuck. I can't stand that garbage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

A few more questions on the dnx5140.

1.Is it possible to go with a xm tuner or is this deck designed for sirius?

2.whats involved adding bluetooth and besides cellphone usage is there any other benefit with bluetooth?

3.I was thinking of replacing the factory speakers(minus the sub).Would I really benefit upgrading the speakers? I'm anal with sound and the factory sub gives just enough bass, but want to know if there are after market speakers that will give me more of a range of sound. Don't like over powering sound to the point of distortion! I Like loud clean sound with TIGHT bass.

You can get XM if you want. It is ready for either or. Just need to buy the correct tuner.

To add bluetooth you need to buy the bluetooth module and run the microphone. Bluetooth kits are generally pretty pricey. The only other benefit to bluetooth would be streaming music from any bluetooth device (computer, phone, etc) that is if the dnx5140 will even allow it, but the quality is usually pretty poor anyways.

And it depends on the car, but generally when you replace a deck you lose the factory sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif Unless your installer intends to cut the harness and figure out a way to hardwire it.
