Kenwood DDX512 Not Sending Video to Rear Monitors!

Okay, it is actually a little bit more complicated than the title suggests.

The situation: I just bought a Kenwood DDX512 from crutchfield (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DDX512/Kenwood-DDX512.html?search=DDX512&tp=75)

Everything works great except one of the main things I bought it for - I have a dual-screen portable DVD player from Magnavox (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05757238000P?vName=Computers+%26+Electronics&cName=DVD+Players+%26+Recorders&sName=Portable+DVD+Players&sbf=Brand&sbv=Magnavox)

..and I wanted to use them (the magnavox) as external monitors connected to the Kenwood AV-Outs. Simple enough, right? Wrong.

The cable set up is composite - three RCA's on the back of the Kenwood (R, W, Y) and the AV-In on the Magnavox is a minijack (3.5mm). When I bought this HU, I bought the following composite to minijakc cable from streetwise: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_211ZN7AV35/StreetWires-ZeroNoise-7-Series-A-V-Cable-11-5ft.html?tp=1428&tab=detailed_info

When it is set up this way, I am not getting any video. All I get is right and left audio, buzzing, and no video at all.

I tested another cable and I got the same result. I tested 3 different monitors, all different brands and I got the same result. So, (though I was pretty sure that the HU was not the problem, Crutchfield sent me another Kenwood. Plugged it up - same result. Ran all the same tests again.

Additionally, I plugged a regular LCD TV to the Kenwood using straight RCAs on both sides and I DO get video then.

I am at a loss here - what am I missing? I had read somewhere that the AV-INputs on these types of players are actually reversed or switched around - for instance the white or red actually controls the video...has anyone ever heard of this issue before?

I am stumped, Crutchfield is stumped, Magnavox has no idea (they told me to set the DVD player/Monitors to AV OUT even though the cable is under AV/IN (I have not tried this yet, but it seems pretty far-fetched), and Kenwood has no idea.

Please help I know that there is something I am missing, but I just do not know what. Thanks!

Mike
