ok so i have a 1800W kenwood amp

*Kenwood KAC-9105D

1800W Max, Class D Monoblock Performance Series Amplifier*

that is powering an orion hcca 10" in a sealed box built to spec 0.9 cb...

*10" 3000W Dual 2-Ohm HCCA Component Subwoofer Driver (HCCA 10.2)*

my question is... is my amp good enough to be powering this subwoofer? i mean it sounds good! but i just expected this sub to be wayyyyy louder for the price i payed for it! maybe i should buy another amp and run 2 amps to this sub? hmm.. lemme know guys!

thanks!

i would link it if i was aloud too, the forum isn't letting me! but the guide actually recommends a seals enclosure.. as long as its 0.9 cb

i also just realized you amp only puts out 900rms, so you are a bit week in the power department,

a solid 1500rms should make a good bit of a difference.

as long as your not cranking the gain into full clipping then you wont hurt it any.

Is your amp underpowring your sub yes is it a bad thing no as long as the amp is set correctly and your nor abusing the volume and deck setting trying to make you stereo play louder.

hmmm ok! whats a good amp combo to run with this subwoofer? i was thinking about maybe running 2 amps to the sub? i just don't know which ones.

well im sure its possible... personally tho ive never experienced an HCCA that id say "sounds good". But dont run two amps, if you go ported and think you need more power than the kenwood is putting out just get one better amp.

and if your running it at 1ohm the kenwood is doing 900rms at best anyways... spec sheet says >900rms @ 1ohm so im not sure exactly what kind of numbers thats implying. Kenwoods have never been underrated that im aware of.

If you put that same sub in properly built and designed ported box, tuned to say... 40 hz, it will be quite a bit louder than it is now. Ask in the enclosure design subforum, and there should be someone there who can design/and/or build a proper box for you.

i think i'm gonna go with the Hifonics BRZ2100.1D, its just i never heard of hifronics, so idk how legit or clean the power would be! and its too late! i already payed someone to build me a custom sealed box! i like the sound of sealed better anyway!

I was going to ask you if that Kenwood actually ran at 1 ohm because I witnessed a couple of them that wouldn't. One wouldn't turn on unless the impedance was 2 ohms or higher and other would run anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes at low volume before shutting down.
