Kenwood 9152D mono amp, what inline fuse ratings should I be using?

Yesterday, I installed this amp, as an upgrade from my previous amp, the Kenwood KAC-7202, which did 460W x 1 @ 4 ohm, the 9152D is class D, and does 900W x 1 @ 1ohm, but when I installed it, I never bothered to check the inline fuse from the battery, and as Young Jeezy hit, it blew, but it's rated for 60 amps, and the amp only has 60 amps of fusing...

What went wrong here, and what size fuse should I upgrade to 80, 100? Or is something elese wrong?

I have the same amp and it sucks. **** thing goes into protect every 5 mins and gains arent even up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Your going to be experiencing this quite often im sorry to say //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif But as for the fuses I dont think you can just put bigger fuses in there. not sure tho but I was told that you can't.

Goodluck with that amp tell me if you can find out why it goes into protect so often. I think it just overheats and calls it quits :/

Good luck!

with that amp use 4 gauge wiring and since it has a 60A fuse rating..use a 60A fuse under the hood..i have a kenwood as well...when i did that i had no problems i want to 50/50 on volume...you sure its 1 ohm stable..the box and manual might say..but its confusing how they word it..double check.

I also just installed a 9152 over the weekend. I bought a Kicker brand install kit that came with 4ga power and ground with a 100 amp fuse block. I have had the amp go into protection mode a few times on me when I turn the gain up about half way also.

I dunno if it's getting too hot or if it's a voltage drop. I would guess it's getting to hot. The amp IS 1 ohm stable. I running 2 4 ohm DVC subs in a series( 1 ohm) too. I thought about wiring them up at 4 ohm's just to see if it still went into protection mode as easy as it does.

I only have mine at 2ohms and the piece of shit goes into protect! I am so ****in frustrated with this ****in thing I want to smash it! I have spent way to much time and money on my car to have this POS go into protect!!!!!!!!!

If ya figure out how to fix this problem please let me know!

Thanks and goodluck on your fuse problem!

Yeah, I have 4 gauge wire... I upgraded to an 80 amp fuse, and that part is fine...

But like everyone else in this thread said, THIS AMP SUCKS!!!!!

It says it is 1 ohm stable clearly, but it's just not... It actually draws too much current for it's fusing at 1 ohm, and blows them, and it goes into protect every 5 seconds....

So I rewired my 15's to 4 ohms, since this amp is no where near 1 ohm stable, and it was going fine, even though it did go into protect after a few minutes of hard beating... Then my 15's blew, so I just gave up on them, and I figured I can still get that 900 watts with no problems, if I just run it at 2 ohms, so I picked up another set of 12's, and got my final impedance at 2 ohms, and got it pumping, 15 seconds into the song... It's gone, amp goes into protection... And it just keeps on doing it, at any considerable volume... Very annoying riding down the street, with girls looking at my sexy *** in that car, hitting hard, and then the bass suddenly disappears, and I have to turn my music off.

THIS AMP SUCKS, and I'm gonna have to get another...

What mode of protection is it even going into???? And can I disable it? Because the amp isn't even hot when this happens, it just cuts off after a few seconds of hard thumping.

Again... THIS AMP SUCKS
