kenwood 9102 @ 1ohm

I wouldn't try running it @ 1 ohm personally..

I have heard several instances where Kenwood 1 ohm stable amps, such as my X811D go into protect often.. I have never ran mine @ 1ohm so I cannot say, but it does go into protect @ 2 every now and then..

ur probably clipping it.

you can wire the voice coils up in series and then the subs in parrallel>2 ohm load out of dual voice coil 2ohm woofs.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I run my 9152 @ 1ohm and have never had a problem but it is stated in the manual that it is 1 ohm stable. Not sure what the difference is between the 9102 and 9152 besides 50 watts.

It is not rated at 1 ohm, but is there anyway to run this without ruining the amp? I see a lot of dvc 2ohm subs for sale on the forum but cant run any of them with my amp. Just checking if its possible.
Thanks
I'll chime in with my $0.02 as the forum's resident Kenwood fanboi...

I have seen far too many instances of the amps that Kenwood claims to be 1 Ohm stable showing problematic operation when presented with a load that low so for an amp that isn't rated to be stable below 2 Ohms I simply wouldn't do it. Best case scenario is that the amp will throw itself into protection mode until the wiring is corrected. Worst case scenario will be the never enjoyed presence of the "magic smoke" coupled with the necessity for either an amp repair or replacement.

Additionally why can't you run a DVC 2 Ohm driver off of your amp?

This to me suggests user error. I have no personal experience with the amps that Kenwood claims are 1 Ohm stable whether they be from the eXcelon lineup or the 'regular' Kenwood stuff but I run my KAC-X401M at 2 Ohms all the time (a single Diamond Audio M6mkII12D4 with the coils wired in parallel) and it's never gone into protection the first time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

^^^ I dont want to run it at 4 ohm because it just sucks for power output.

New case scenario--- the JL audio is dvc 3 ohm. Any experience running this amp @ 1.5. I know there is such thing as impedence run etc. How does this work? Is there anyway to raise the impendence just a little bit so its as close to 2 ohm as possible?
