Kenwood 828 Headunit Bass Malfunction

My wiring, sub and amp are all working fine. (I tested other head units) When I plug the Sub outputs in my subwoofer starts banging on its own rapidly. No matter what settings I change on the headunit it doesnt stop. I changed the settings on the HU to Sub Off and on, CD or Tuner, Bass Output -15 up to +15 and no change. Anyone have a clue here, is the HU broken?

either its a defect in the HU or it could be something with the wires but i doubt that but i dont think it would hurt to try and see
